Trouble 1
|
| When I run the TomComm Zip
setup program I get a "Corrupt Installation Detected" message. |
Why?
|
Action
|
| The setup program is not the same size as it was
when it was compiled. This can occur as a result of transport errors. |
Download the setup program, TomComm_Zip.EXE, again. |
| The setup program was accessed via a UNC
pathname. |
Run the setup program on the computer you wish to
install TomComm Zip on. |
| The Windows folder is write protected. |
Using Windows Explorer, uncheck the Read-only
attribute on the Windows folder property dialog. |
| The Windows folder is full. Some
applications will place temporary files in the Windows folder. If the application
terminates abnormally, the temporary files remain. Eventually, your Windows folder
will be filled to capacity with junk files. |
Identify and remove unnecessary files.
Typically, temporary files are prefixed with a "~" and have a ".tmp"
extension. |
| Your system's assigned temporary folder does not
exists. |
| 1 |
Open the Start menu and click on Run... |
| 2 |
Enter "regedit" and click the OK button. |
| 3 |
Open the following key in the Registry Editor:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\explorer\VolumeCaches\Temporary files" |
| 4 |
Note the path assigned to "folder." |
| 5 |
Using Windows Explorer, check to see if the path (the temporary folder) exists. |
| 6 |
If the temporary folder does not exists, create it. |
|
Trouble 2
|
| I get an "Invalid Release Code" message
whenever I run TomComm Zip. |
Why?
|
Action
|
| The installation somehow failed. |
Run the setup program again. |
| If your computer is part of a network, you may
not have sufficient "permissions" or "rights" to modify the
Registry. |
See Trouble 4 below. |
| TomComm Zip 1.0 is not fully
compatible with the current version of Comctl32.dll. |
Download the latest version of TomComm
Zip. |
| TomComm Zip stores information about
it-self in your system's registry. Anti-virus, uninstaller, setup monitoring,
"cracker," and other similar programs that prevent read-write access to your
system's registry can cause this error. |
Disable the option that prevents registry
changes, or temporarily disable the offending program, and run the setup program
again. You may also need to disable ''cracker" programs when running TomComm
Zip. |
Trouble 3
|
| TomComm Zip tool bar images are corrupt,
or other display anomalies. |
Why?
|
Action
|
| If you are using Windows 95, and do not have
Internet Explorer 4+ or any Office 2000 product installed; you may need to install an updated version of
comctl32.dll |
Install the Windows
95 Year 2000 Update.
| Note: |
| TomComm does not support this
